About Annie's Legacy:
Annie's Legacy was founded in 2006 by Beverly Billy, who was inspired by her mother's ability to successfully escape domestic abuse. Beverly has spent over 31 years in patient advocacy, community relations, hospice and palliative care and volunteer management and has received a number of honors for her work.
Our mission is to provide resources to women that empower them to become strong, confident contributors to their communities.
We work with women on Chicago's South Side in five core areas: budgeting and finance; relationships; personal well-being; employment and personal assistance. We provide each client with a mentor for 9 months to assist them with goal identification, objectives, action-planning and timelines for implementation.
During the course of the 9-month relationship, we offer 90 minute workshops in any of the 5 core areas as well as individualized coaching and tutoring. If you are interested in being a workshop facilitator, career or self-esteem coach or a mentor for 9 months, we invite you to visit our website at www.annieslegacy.org. We welcome other volunteers as well.
About Leslie Meisner:
Leslie Meisner is the Managing Director responsible for J.P.Morgan's Private Wealth Management team on Chicago's North Shore.
She has over 12 years of experience working with high net worth clients, understanding their objectives and bringing the full resources of J.P. Morgan to provide solutions for them, their families and businesses. Prior to joining J.P. Morgan and its predecessor firms, she spent several years working in sales and marketing for closely held businesses, both in manufacturing and distribution of high end designer home furnishing products. She is a graduate of the University of Illinois, Chicago and lives in Lincolnshire with her husband, Steve.
Leslie joined WomenOnCall.org, as a way to connect with organizations whose missions fit with her passions, one of which is mentoring young people. Through WomenOnCall, she met Beverly Billy, founder of Annie's Legacy. During their first meeting they both realized it was "match" and in October of 2009, Leslie joined Annie's Legacy's Board and is currently working on volunteer recruitment and development.
