Childreach International USA is a 501(c)(3) community development nonprofit organization that supports local sustainable projects that improve health, education, and safety for children in developing countries. We work collaboratively with local community members, governments and other NGOs to provide sustainable solutions to the issues faced by children and their families in Tanzania, Ghana, and Peru. We work to unlock a child's potential through our school improvement programs, teaching assistant programs, school farming programs, and our vocational training centers where youth get an opportunity to develop skills that can be transferred into jobs in the future. All our programs assist children and youth to reach their full potential thereby creating opportunities for employment as young adults.
Our organization has an innovative fundraising model whereby our volunteer participants raise funds to support our projects overseas while raising funds to pay for their trip abroad. This model gives our university student population the opportunity to travel abroad, experience a cross-cultural experience, and gain invaluable leadership and entrepreneurship experience by raising awareness and funds for children in the developing world, inevitably becoming global citizens, a vital characteristic necessary for anyone working in our global world today.
Our participants can get involved in two ways addressing the needs of different personalities and desires. Our Futurebuilding Projects allow participants to raise funds and then work side-by-side with community members in school renovations projects. Our Challenge Events offer participants the chance to experience a life-changing adventure such as Climbing Kilimanjaro for Kids or hiking the sacred path to ancient Machu Picchu. Both programs provide opportunities for incredible growth for participants while supporting our projects for children overseas. All participants in either event will get to see firsthand where their money went since all groups visit one of our local project sites. Meeting the children, the beneficiaries of our work, is often the highlight of the trip.
 The WomenOnCall.org volunteers that have assisted me in getting our office started in the USA have been incredible. Andrea Albrecht wrote a wonderful press release for Childreach so we could get the word out to various publications. Joy Hoeffler worked with Childreach assisting with IT and social networking sites to enhance our reach. Faina Lekakh shared her Word and Excel expertise with us. Miranda Mandel spent several hours discussing various legal components of our organization as did Jennifer Widmer. Jody Adler took an hour of time to review issues other legal concerns we had and then referred us onto a CPA organization to help us out with our accounting needs. Catherine Siebel has created a program evaluation for our participants to determine the change they experienced on their trip abroad. Anne Shajkovci researched grants for us and found several that will work out. Tara Kamradt is working to make Childreach an official pro bono client of her law firm which will allow us incredible access to so many great minds in a variety of areas of law. Gail Fairhall helped with insurance needs. Ashley Parsons has created a t-shirt design and postcard for advertising as well as assisted us in finding the best prices for both products.
We never imagined that so many would respond to our "alerts" and that we would get the chance to work with such generous professionals who were willing to donate their time to our organization. Each one of them has made a huge impact on our organization and have saved us time, money, and concern about how we would get all this accomplished. Thank you to each one of you. You have truly made a difference not only in our lives here in the states, but in the lives of over 73,000 children we have served through our global offices throughout the years.
