Completing your Profile and Making the Connection
Whether you've joined WomenOnCall recently or a while ago, updating your profile will help ensure that the projects we send are relevant to you. When posting projects, our nonprofits search by the skill sets, geographic location and causes you select. So to find the best match for you, make sure that your profile reflects your interests and abilities.
We all know the importance of our personal brand, and your profile on WomenOnCall is a great way to share who you are with our members. By taking a few minutes to adjust your profile, you can speed up the process of finding your match and giving back. Here are a few quick ways to make your profile work for you:
- Update your skills. If you've selected more than three skill sets, log back in and tell us which of those skills you are most qualified to use. Keeping your list of skills to only a few helps our nonprofits get a better understanding of your true areas of expertise. And if you are trying to hone a newer skill, simply note any background you have in that area and state up-front that you are looking for projects that leverage that skill.
- Use the "About Me" section to give a snapshot of your abilities and the types of projects you are seeking. This area is the most-read space on a volunteer's profile, and it quickly tells the nonprofit who you are and what you can do.
- Don't forget your profile picture! When you forget to include your photo, you miss a key opportunity to show your engagement and foster a sense of trust with our organizations. Simply adding a photo helps our nonprofits get to know you and can help you better cultivate that relationship.
So we encourage you to log back in, take another look at your profile and update it accordingly so we can help you make better matches with our nonprofits. And if you have any questions, feel free to contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
